Introducing River Horse Safaris

 

Established in 1994, River Horse Safaris specializes in operating canoeing safaris along both sides of the Lower Zambezi River taking in the best of what the river has to offer.

From the South bank our canoeing trips run through the Mana Pools National Park of Zimbabwe while our North bank trips travel through Game management area and the Lower Zambezi National Park effectively ending in Zambia.

These canoeing trips are a superb way to approach wildlife from the quietness of ones canoe while being led by our professional canoe guides.

Numerous animal species may be seen on these trips while the birdlife between June and October is phenomenal.

 

 

 

Although we canoe the entire stretch of the Lower Zambezi River spanning a distance of over 230km, taking in spectacular gorges and floodplains along the way,

 

 

we tend to concentrate on the middle floodplain region where highest game populations are concentrated.

 

It is here that one has the chance to break away from the main river system and explore the quieter smaller channels that are most prolific in animal and birdlife.
